EMPOWERING OUR
COMMUNITY
One Touch ICT builds skills, creates opportunities and transforms lives through practical training
and mentorship.
Purpose
OUR MISSION, OUR VISION, AND
WHAT DRIVES US FORWARD
One Touch ICT exists to equip community members with skills to stand on their
own. We believe practical training, honest work, and quiet dignity that comes from
knowing you can provide for yourself and family.
About Us
One Touch ICT was officially registered in 2018 as a Community-Based Organization. The initiative began as a small ICT training center in Mathare, offering free computer literacy and digital skills training to community members. This early focus aimed to bridge the digital divide and equip residents—especially young people—with basic computer skills to improve their employability.
Over time, we recognized that ICT skills alone were not sufficient to address the broader economic challenges facing the community. In response, the organization expanded its programming to include a range of vocational and technical skills training designed to better meet local needs and enhance income-generation opportunities for youth.
Today, One Touch ICT offers diverse empowerment programs that combine digital literacy with practical vocational skills, supporting participants to transition into employment, entrepreneurship, and self-reliance.
To date, the organization has directly benefited over 10,000 individuals through its various programs, contributing to improved livelihoods, increased opportunities, and stronger community resilience in Mathare.
How
FOUR PILLARS OF OUR
WORK IN THE
COMMUNITY
We focus on what matters most. Technical skills that lead to real jobs.
Financial understanding that builds lasting security. Pathways that connect
people to opportunity. And mentorship that walks alongside each person on their journey.
TECHNICAL TRAINING
We teach vocational skills that employers need and communities value. From electrical work to computer literacy, our training prepares people for real employment.
FINANCIAL LITERACY
Understanding money matters. We teach entrepreneurship and financial planning so people can start businesses and build wealth for themselves and their families.
WOMEN'S EMPOWERMENT
Women and single mothers learn tailoring, catering, hairdressing, and trades that open doors. Economic independence changes everything
JOB PLACEMENT
We don't stop at training. We connect graduates with apprenticeships, mentorships, and employment through partnerships with local industries and TVET institutions.
A Word From Our Leadership

One Touch ICT
Mathare Slums is a community that faces significant challenges — poor living standards, economic hardship, lack of basic needs, health risks from inadequate sanitation, insecurity, gender-based violence, HIV and AIDS among the youth, drug abuse, and crime. Having lived in Mathare for over twenty years, I understand firsthand the struggles the people here endure.
When I reflected on the root causes of these issues, it became clear that poverty and lack of income were at the heart of many of these challenges. This realization inspired me to take action — I began by establishing an ICT training center to equip our community with skills that could create new opportunities.
As demand grew, we expanded by forming a Community-Based Organization (C.B.O) to offer more courses and empower women through economic activities. To date, our programs have positively impacted over 30,000 lives, directly and indirectly, and we remain committed to reaching even more.
Our mission is simple yet profound: to transform Mathare Slums, one life at a time, and to create opportunities that inspire hope, resilience, and sustainable growth for the community.
